Michael Frend lives in Waynesboro, Virginia, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. He was born in Staunton and grew up near Washington DC. Michael has been a volunteer firefighter and rescue squad member for many years. He was the youngest assistant Fire Marshal in Bladensburg and served over 10 years with the Waynesboro Rescue Squad. He holds state EMT certificates.

Michael also owned a successful online business before retiring in 2005. Later, he worked with Augusta County Schools as a School Bus Driver Trainer, where he learned much about school safety and crisis response. He has training from the Federal Government on handling mass emergencies and school violence.

Michael has run for public office, including Mayor and the U.S. House of Representatives. He is passionate about making schools safer and believes working together—students, parents, teachers, and community leaders—is the best way to protect children. Michael is currently writing more books and plans to focus on this work full-time soon.
